A lock can be added to the mailbox for an additional $20. The lock is located on the upper right side of the mailbox. When the mailbox is locked, the box can only be opened about an inch. However, when the mailbox is unlocked, it fully opens. The lock comes with two keys.
The mailbox is mounted by drilling two round-head screws into an exterior wall. The mailbox is then hung on these screws by keyholes located on the top back of the mailbox. Screws are included.
The wood is finished with a single coat of marine-grade epoxy and then two coats of clear exterior-grade spar urethane finish. I highly recommend mounting the mailbox on a wall that receives some sun protection.
